The 7th World Family Day event was held at the Jianguomenwai Diplomatic Residence Compound (DRC) in Chaoyang district, Beijing, on May 10, drawing over 500 participants from more than 30 countries.
Themed “A Global Home, An International Neighborhood”, the event celebrated cultural exchange, community governance, and green development.
The festival was organized by the Foreign Affairs Service Bureau, with ambassadors from São Tomé and Príncipe and Nicaragua in attendance, along with officials from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Chaoyang district, and local subdistrict.
A multicultural showcase opened the event, featuring performances by nine national-level intangible cultural heritage inheritors and tai chi displays by international residents. The lighting of the “Tree of Harmony” marked the official start of the festivities.
Six themed zones highlighted cultural interaction, innovation, and sustainability. Visitors experienced traditional Chinese medicine, crafts, and solar term exhibitions, while a global market featuring products from Argentina, Vietnam, and other countries added international flavor. A children’s barter fair and green-tech art installations further promoted cross-cultural connection and eco-friendly living.
The event underscored China’s commitment to building a community with a shared future for mankind and showcased the DRC’s growing role as a hub for international community life and public diplomacy.
