The Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is a nonprofit national research institution engaged in establishing a national innovation system for industrial biotechnology to promote the eco-friendly development of industrial sectors. TIB has a strong focus on technology transfer and holds cooperative relationships with many commercial enterprises. Recently, the TIB is being reshaped to establish the National Innovation Centre for Synthetic Biology, which will integrate important resources for the innovation chain, such as cutting-edge R&D facility, top scientists and engineers, plentiful capital from public and private domain, innovative management, functioning as the world-leading engine of synthetic biology innovation and industrialization.
